Christmas

Christmas

When I was 10 years old, I had a great Christs. It was one of my favorites. There were plenty of presents under the tree for me and my siblings. The house was decorated beautifully. The Christmas meal was plentiful and delicious. It was just how you want every Christmas to be.

But when I was 11 years old, I had my worst Christmas. My father had lost his job and money was extremely tight. One Christmas morning, there were no presents under a humble tree that was donated to us. My mom was in tears. The Christmas meal was whatever could be scraped together from items that came from the local food bank, including government cheese. I went to bed hungry that night.

Although it was my worst Christmas, it was also the most important holiday of my life. I learned from that Christmas experience that I can never take my blessings for granted. It also taught me to have compassion for people who do not get to celebrate an ideal Christmas. Because I was once that person.

This Christmas, I ask that you remember in your prayer the people who might experience a difficult Christmas this year. Maybe, like me many years ago it is a child who wakes up to no presents under the tree. Or it could be an elderly widow who will spend Christmas alone in a nursing home. Maybe it's the countless impoverished families around the world for whom Christmas is nothing more than just another day of the year.

Christmas can be the best of times or the worst of times. Can I count on you to help me make this a better Christmas for some of our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Christ?

If you can bless us with a donation, we will be able to make Christmas brighter for the people in our missions in more than 60 countries.

As you bless us, we want to bless you and your loved ones during the Christmas season.

I pray that you and your loved ones have blessed Christmas. May we continue to work together to help others who are not so fortunate.
