Fr. Jesse and his MomRecently a young Oblate priest, Fr. Jesse Esqueda, O.M.I. who works in Tijuana, Mexico experienced a great loss when his mother passed away. Father Jesse had been very close to his mother. Thankfully, though, he had the gift of prayer to help him through the difficult time. When we struggle to understand trying moments like this, we must turn to God to heal our broken hearts. Father Jesse wrote about his loss on his personal Facebook page:

Fr. Jesse and his Mom"My mother passed away peacefully this morning as we held her hand and prayed with her. Mama, no other person has had greater influence in my life than you! Your example of courage, generosity and audacious faith made me the man that I am today. Everything that I am today is thanks to you! My heart is heavy with sadness because of your departure; at the same time, I am filled with profound gratitude because God gave me the most amazing woman for my mother. Your love, words and memories will be with me forever. Until we meet again in the Father's house."

I ask that you pray for Fr. Jesse as he struggles through this challenging time. In return, we would be honored to comfort your loved ones with prayer as they struggle through their own difficult times.

Thank you for sharing God's comfort, love and peace with those who are grieving. Please know that my brother Oblates and I continue to pray for you at Mass and in our prayers.
