Do you sometimes free like your life is all tied up in knots? That no matter what you do, things just can't get sorted out. When you feel this way, I encourage you to take part in a special Marian devotion.

A few years ago I became aware of a devotion to Our Lady Undoer of Knots. Although devotion to Mary under this title dates back more than 300 years, it had remained a rather obscure way to pray. Then came Pope Francis.

The Holy Father has a strong devotion to Our Lady Undoer of Knots. He has encouraged people to pray to her when they feel lost or out of control. Today, devotion to Our Lady Undoer of Knots is the fastest growing Marian devotion in the world.

Every day Missionary Oblates are fulfilling Pope Francis' desire to have knots untangled in the lives of the poor.

In Mexico, Fr. Jesse Esqueda, O.M.I. untangles the knots in the life of Pablo, whose home and possessions were washed away in a rainstorm. Father Jesse located building materials to help Pablo build a new home.

In Zambia, Fr Freeborn Kibombwe, O.M.I. is helping Nasilele untangle the knots in her life. Nasilele, age 16, lives in an isolated village with no access to school. Father Freeborn arranged for Nasilele to move into a dormitory near an Oblate school in Lukulu so she could attend high school.

In New Orleans, Fr. Tony Rigoli, O.M.I. is untangling the knots in the lives of the Thompson family. Father Tony oversees the operation of St. Jud Community Center, which includes a homeless shelter. The Thompson family is currently living there because the father was laid off from his job. Father Tony is working with them to get their lives back in order and to find permanent housing.

I encourage you to turn to Our Lady Undoer of Knots during time of struggle. Please know that the Missionary Oblates are grateful for your partnership in our ministries and know that we are remembering your needs at Mass and in our prayers.

"We know one thing: nothing is impossible for God's mercy! Even the most tangled knots are loosened by His Grace," said Pope Francis. "And Mary, whose 'yes' opened the door for God to undo knots, is the Mother who patiently and lovingly brings us to God, so that He can untangle the knots of our souls by His Fatherly mercy."

Send me your prayer petition by September 22. I will then have it sent to Rome where your needs will be lifted up in prayer at a special Mass on September 28, the feast of Our Lady Undoer of Knots. The Mass will be celebrated at the Oblate General House, the worldwide headquarters of the Missionary Oblates.
