Say a Prayer for Someone You Love

Say a Prayer for Someone You Love

Nine years ago I receive a letter from Mike and Diane Conneely from Aurora, Illinois. They asked that I pray at Mass for their daughter, Jennifer, who was pregnant with triplets. The pregnancy was facing fatal complications.

Doctors told Jennifer and her husband, Craig, that "Baby A" was not developing properly. The doctors recommended aborting "Baby A" to give the other two babies a better chance of survival.

Jennifer and Craig told the doctors that abortion was out of the question, and that the well-being of the babies would be in God's hands. With that, they turned to the power of prayer. Family, friends and even strangers began praying for a miracle. We offered a Mass here at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows on their behalf.

Jennifer was admitted to the hospital three months early and it was expected that she would deliver the babies any day. At that point, the children would weigh less than two pounds and have the potential of facing very serious health problems. False labors were taking place nearly every day. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months.

On March 5, 2008 the triplets were born: Liam, Aidan and Connor. They were beautiful and healthy. To emphasize the power of prayer, Liam, who was "Baby A, " weighed more than five founds at birth - the heaviest of the three babies! Praise God!

In August 2016 I receive a letter from Mike and Diane with these beautiful photos of their grandchildren. They thanks me - and everyone in the Oblate family - who took part in their miracle. Their letter concluded:

"Now, as we look back over the past eight years, we think of what might have been. Liam, Aidan and Connor are healthy, happy, well-adjusted children who remind us on a regular basis of how blessed we are. To see them smile and laugh and ask such interesting questions about life is a gift to us that is indescribable.

We would like to thank you again for your well wishes, and especially for your prayers. We are convinced the prayers that were said on behalf of our family contributed to the miracle that we received."

Prayer is powerful.

That's why I want to offer you the opportunity to support a loved one in need of healing. Show them love and support - while at the same time supporting the healing ministries of the Missionary Oblates.
