Who will carry the Oblate Cross into the future?

Who will carry the Oblate Cross into the future?

Recently the Missionary Oblates concluded the celebration of our 200th Anniversary. It was a wonderful chance to look back on how a congregation that started with a few men in France has grown into a worldwide congregation in more than 60 countries.

The Oblates are blessed with some fine young men who have pledged their lives in service to the poor and needy. Here are just a few examples:

Father Anton Litvinov, O.M.I. was ordained on May 7, 2016. It was a historic moment for the Catholic Church. father Anton is believed to be the first person born in the country of Turkmenistan to ever become a Catholic priest. Today there are just three Catholic priests ministering in the entire country, all Missionary Oblates. When Fr. Anton celebrates Mass, there is no other Mass celebrated within 1,000 miles in any direction.

Father Lucio Castillo, O.M.I. and Fr. Jesse Esqueda, O.M.I. are two of our newest priests in the United States. Father Lucio currently ministers at Immaculate Conception Parish in Houston. Father Jesse ministers at our mission in Tijuana, Mexico while also serving as a Vocation Director.

Father Jesse was a successful Vocation Director even before becoming an Oblate. When he worked as a youth minister at the Oblates' St. Rosa Parish in Los Angeles, one of the youth in his group was Lucio. Jesse served as Lucio's Confirmation sponsor and helped to foster Lucio's vocation to the priesthood until his ordination in 2015.

Fathers Anton, Jesse and Lucio are part of the bright future of the Missionary Oblates.

Will you be their partner in bringing the Good News to the poor?
