I invite you to take a spiritual pilgrimage with me, one that involves Marian devotions that have taken place for five centuries. Our spiritual pilgrimage will "take us" to two very special places.
Our first "stop" will be at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows for the annual Flores de Mayo celebration. On May 27 pilgrims from throughout the United States will gather at the Shrine to celebrate their Catholic faith and the culture of the Philippines.
The celebration will focus on two devotions that are special to Catholics in the Philippines - Our Lady of Peñafrancia and Santo Niño de Cebu.
The second "stop" on our pilgrimage takes us all the way to Cotabato City in the Philippines. The leader of the Archdioces of Cotabato, Cardinal Orlando Quevedo, O.M.I. is one of the only two Oblate cardinals in the world. And he wants to pray for you!
Cardinal Quevedo is a champion of the poor and forgotten in the Philippines. He has also been praised for easing tensions between Muslims and Christians. Know as the "Cardinal of Peace," he and the Oblates have been leaders in creating schools where Muslim and Christian students study together.
Please accept my invitation to take a spiritual pilgrimage that I'm sure will bring blessings into your life, either in person or through the power of prayer.
The Power of Prayer
You can take part in these beautiful devotions by sending your petitions. After the celebration, your petition will be displayed before a statue of Santo Niño in the Shrine's Santo Niño de Cebu Chapel for an entire year. Your intentions will be lifted up in prayer by the Oblates and our Shrine pilgrims until our Flores de Mayo celebration in 2018.
Submit a Prayer Request
I thank you for your generosity and prayers, and know that my fellow Oblates and I will continue to remember you at Mass and in our prayers.
