Easter is the season of new life. And I can't think of a better example of new life than a young Oblate priest on the other side of the world.
Last year at this time Anton Litvinov was preparing for his ordination as an Oblate priest. When Fr. Anton professed his vows on May 7 he became the first person ever born in the country of Turkmenistan to become a Catholic priest. He was immediately a pioneering missionary; the first of what the Oblates hope will be many more young men from Turkmenistan to become missionaries for the Church.
Today, there are just three Catholic priests ministering in Turkmenistan - all Missionary Oblates. Their work is supported in large part by benefactors in the United States.
